F40Worlds Day3 E The action on Rhode Island Sound was fast and furious on the penultimate day of the 2013 Rolex Farr 40 World Championship in Newport, R.I., as the 15 teams contesting the 16th edition of this championship were challenged by three races sailed under a low cloud ceiling. The first race started in 12 knots of steady breeze from the north-northeast, which increased over the three races to 17 knots. Read more...

F40Worlds Day2 D When light air and fog delayed the start of racing for day two of the 2013 Rolex Farr 40 World Championship, the race committee took the 15-strong fleet up Narragansett Bay in search of wind. F40Worlds Day1 B While the weather was a mix of contrasts for the opening day of the 2013 Rolex Farr 40 World Championship, hosted from the Harbour Court club house of New York Yacht Club in Newport, R.I., the results on the water were anything but. 2013 Swan 42 Nationals Leonardo Ferragamo's Yacht Club Italiano team on Cuordileone had an up and down day to start the 2013 Swan 42 Nationals, finishing 14th in Race 1 and then first in Race 2. A seventh in Race 3 leaves the Nautor's Swan CEO in fifth place in the 15-boat fleet. Read more...

130808 Bella Bow ISLE OF WIGHT, COWES, U.K. (August 8, 2013) - Bella Mente Racing, sailing under the Club burgee, has won the New York Yacht Club Challenge Cup, one of the two most prestigious trophies awarded at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week. The team of 22 sailors, led by owner/driver Hap Fauth, is currently racing in the event's Big Boat mini-series, which kicked off its first race on Wednesday, August 7th and wraps up with the second and final race today, August 8th in Cowes, England. Photo by Rolex / Daniel Forster Newport, R.I., USA (August 11, 2013) – The second day of racing at the New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup presented by Rolex got off to a slow start when the wind took longer than expected to arrive on the course the Race Committee had chosen north of the Pell Bridge in the East Passage of Narragansett Bay. Once the southwesterly breeze filled in, three races were run in upwards of 10 knots, with gusts to 15, giving the 20 international yacht club teams an excellent workout. Read more...

The NY-50 Spartan going upwind Newport, R.I. -- Newport and Narragansett Bay rolled out perfect sailing conditions for the fourth biennial Robert H. Tiedemann Classic Yachting Weekend, hosted by the New York Yacht Club's Harbour Court station. DSC 4460 NEWPORT, R.I. -- After three years of frustration, New York Yacht Club’s top team regained the top spot on the podium at the New York Yacht Club Invitational Team Race Regatta for the Morgan Cup, beating three-time defending champion Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club in the final race to clinch the championship. Canada1 Water, whether in its frozen or liquid form, is the common denominator providing sports fans in Canada much to cheer for this week:  the ice hockey season is just gearing up, and the team representing Royal Canadian Yacht Club (RCYC) in Toronto is in Newport, Rhode Island, USA, to defend their title at the New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup presented by Rolex. RCYC will have to hold off an assault from 19 competing yacht club teams, each of whom will have a 10-member crew racing aboard identically matched Swan 42s, over the five days of racing that will take place on Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound from September 10-14, 2013. Photo by Rolex / Daniel Forster Newport, R.I., USA (August 10, 2013) – It was an action packed kick off to the third edition of the New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup presented by Rolex as 20 international yacht club teams completed two races on day one of the five-day regatta that will conclude on September 14, 2013. The expected conditions led the Race Committee to take the fleet north of the Pell Bridge to race between Gould Island and the western shore of Aquidneck Island where the teams – sailing identically equipped Swan 42s – faced breeze in the low teens gusting into the mid-20s and roaring current.
